On Wednesday 5th October, we were thrilled to welcome Kim and her new guide Dog, Darby, into our Assembly Hall. Kim has lived with visual impairment all of her life, totally losing her sight two years ago. Darby, a Labradoodle, is Kim's second Guide Dog. These highly-trained, extremely intelligent creatures are an absolute lifeline to the visually impaired; without them, people like Kim struggle to be independent.
Each Guide Dog costs £50,000 to train and keep over the course of its lifetime. All this is paid for by charitable donations to Guide Dogs, through schemes such as sponsoring puppies.
Watch this space for the chance to be involved in our Adopt a Guide Dog Puppy Scheme!
