Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
At Tickhill St Mary’s, we are committed to providing an inclusive and supportive environment where every child can thrive and achieve their full potential. We recognise that some children may have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) that require additional support to access the curriculum and school life fully.
Our approach to SEND is guided by the principles of the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice (2015). We work closely with children, parents, and external professionals to identify needs early and provide tailored support that meets each child’s unique requirements.
Our SEND provision includes:
- Early identification and assessment of SEND through regular monitoring and observation.
- Individual Support Plans (SSPs) that set clear, achievable targets and are regularly reviewed.
- A graduated approach to intervention, including high quality teaching, targeted support, and specialist input where needed.
- Collaboration with parents and carers as partners in their child’s education.
- Access to specialist services and external agencies to support children’s learning, health, and wellbeing.
- Training and development opportunities for staff to ensure effective SEND provision.
- Promoting an inclusive culture where all children feel valued, respected, and able to participate fully in school life.
We are committed to ensuring that children with SEND have equal opportunities to engage in all aspects of the curriculum and school community, in line with the Equality Act 2010.
For more information or to discuss your child’s needs, please contact the school office to arrange an appointment with our SENCo, Mrs Kabesh.
