Our School Pets
At Tickhill St Mary’s, we are proud to have two friendly school dogs, four guinea pigs, and a lively flock of chickens as part of our school community. Caring for these animals is a shared responsibility, and our children actively help to look after them, learning important skills along the way. This hands-on involvement supports our school values - being resilient as they develop patience and care, curious as they explore and learn about animal behaviour and needs, respectful in treating all creatures kindly, accountable by taking responsibility for their wellbeing, and becoming active members of our community by contributing to the care of living beings. Our school pets enrich the children’s experience, fostering empathy, nurturing a sense of responsibility, and enhancing their connection to the natural world.
