Public Sector Equality Duty
At Tickhill St Mary’s C of E Primary School, we are committed to promoting equality and fostering an inclusive environment where every child and member of our community is valued and respected. In line with the Equality Act 2010, we have a Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) which requires us to have due regard to the need to:
- Eliminate discrimination and prohibited conduct;
- Advance equality of opportunity between those who share a protected characteristic and those who do not; and
- Foster good relations across all protected characteristics.
Our school embraces this duty as a fundamental part of our Christian ethos and vision to ensure that every child can encounter ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10). We actively work to create a safe, supportive, and respectful environment where diversity is celebrated and barriers to learning are removed.
We publish information annually to demonstrate how we are meeting our equality responsibilities and set specific, measurable equality objectives to continually improve the school experience for all pupils and staff. These objectives are tailored to our school’s context and reflect our commitment to inclusivity, fairness, and opportunity for all.
We encourage all members of our school community, including pupils, parents, staff, and local partners, to engage with us in this ongoing journey towards equality and excellence.
