Welcome back! 
Hello all! I hope you had a lovely half term and are ready for the new term ahead.
This term, we will be focusing on the topic Who were our hospital heroes? Throughout this topic, we will be learning all about the amazing sacrifices and bravery Mary Seacole, Edith Cavell and Florence Nightingale showed to save the lives of many. In line with this, we will be reading the book Brave Nurses in Guided Reading and English, and writing some brilliant biographies based on the lives of these heroines! In Maths, we will be learning all about measuring length, height, capacity, volume and temperature

Our trip to The Deep

Welcome back!
Hello all! I hope you had a lovely Christmas and are ready for the new year to begin.
This term, we will be focusing on the topic Brrr, why is it so cold outside? and to launch our topic, we have a very exciting trip to one of the UK's biggest aquariums, The deep (on Tuesday 10th January 2023). Throughout this topic, we will be learning all about the animals and environment in Antarctica, particularly penguins! In line with this, we will be reading the book Lost and Found in Guided Reading and English, and writing an adventure story about the tales of a lost penguin! In Maths, we will be learning all about money and multiplication and division.

Autumn 1 Knowledge Organiser
Autumn 1
As we settle back into school routine, our first week will be spent as a whole school focusing on the text, We are Family by Patricia Hegartly. As well as reading the text, we will also be completing some fabulous writing and Art based on the book. We will also be checking and recapping some of our phonics that we learnt towards the end of Year 1.
After this, we will be beginning our exciting Science based topic, What's Alive outside? where we will be looking at various plants and animals and discussing habitats, food chains and what helps a plant grow. We will even take a visit to the beautiful Potteric Carr in line with this topic! In English and Guided Reading we will focus on the text Meerkat Mail and learn all about the adventures of Sunny the meerkat!
Please remember to send your child in with their PE kits and leave them in school as we will be having PE lessons on a weekly basis. Please remember to fully label both your child's PE kits, and school uniform as these often seem to easily get misplaced!

A big welcome back to Year 2! I hope that you all have had a fantastic Summer and feel as refreshed and ready to return to school again as I do. Please make sure that at 8:50am you are lined up at the year 2 classroom door ready for me to let you in. Please pick your children up from the same place at 3:20pm.
