Values and Ethos

“To encounter Jesus is to be invited into ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10):  each person is utterly precious.”

We promote acceptance and inclusivity, celebrating the diversity of God’s creation, in hope that each child follows St Mary in discovering and fully living their life within God’s plan.

About St Mary's

We are a very happy and caring school with about 225 children on roll.  Our school is beautiful, both inside and out; we have an excellent team of supportive staff, receptive, articulate and well behaved children, a very large field with our own Forest School and we are situated only a short distance from St Mary’s Church.

As a school we have collaborated with our stakeholders to update our school mission statement:

'Here at St Mary’s Church of England Primary School, through our Christian values, we aspire to nurture and educate the whole child: caring for their well-being, celebrating their individual talents and abilities whilst encouraging them to become lifelong learners. It is our aim that parents, children and school staff should work together towards this end.’

We have five school values which underpin all that we do:

Here at St Mary's, we take pride in who we are and what we do by being kind, accepting, fair, honest, respectful and active members of our community

As a school we are committed to developing the partnership between home, school, church and the community. These links help enable our children to develop intellectually, spiritually, morally, emotionally and culturally.

We are proud to be a Church of England School and we promote the Christian values of care, understanding and tolerance. We are a school which accepts, loves, forgives and trusts, which helps our children’s confidence to grow through the love of God and our commitment to each other. While professing the uniqueness of the Christian faith, we welcome all children regardless of parents’ belief. We endeavour to offer a safe and stimulating learning environment where our children are happy and enjoy their learning.

Why not come and visit us? You will be made very welcome. Please contact the school office if you have any questions or to arrange a visit.

We look forward to working in partnership with you.
