Welcome to Foundation Stage
from Mrs Marson-Smith, Mrs Bevington, Mrs Kabesh and Mrs Holmes,
Hello, Hello, How are you?
A massive warm welcome to our class page. We work very closely as a unit to provide everything your child needs to develop and explore. In both classrooms, there are areas to mark make, build, count and role play which are designed to excite your child's imagination and begin their learning journey. We have a huge shared outdoor area with everything from a climbing frame to water play and bikes. We work together to ensure the correct balance of learning and play which taps straight into your child's senses.
We like to develop a close relationship with parents as we believe this is an integeral part of your child's learning. Should you ever have a query, please come and speak to one of our team. We look forward to meeting you and getting to know both you and your child.
Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work I go!
"It's the first time I've looked through this, what a fantastic tool.
My child enjoys all these activities at home but it's lovely to see how she's interacting and working well with other children.
Full of fun and educational activities, I can see why she loves nursery so much, teachers are doing a fantastic job"
Oh I do like to be beside the seaside!
Tickhill by the Sea
There is going to be a Summer Fayre in Foundation on the 28th June at 10.45 for the morning children and at 2pm for the afternoon and reception children. There are going to be lots of fun activities taking place and a snack and a drink for the children. Could you send into school £2 with your child this week . The activities are going to be taking place within the outdoor areas around Foundation and all monies are going towards resources to develop our Foundation stage. Thankyou!!
We will start this half term off by celebrating the Queen's birthday in all different ways, from designing and making crown's to writing invites for Her Majesty's Birthday Party! For the rest of the term, we will be hoping the weather stays warm as we explore summer and of course holidays! During this time, we will be postcard writing, exploring capacity (how much does your suitcase hold?!) as well as continuing with our daily phonics. You will receive an invite to TICKHILL BY THE SEA! I'm excited already.....watch this space!
We had lots of fun planting bulbs and vegetables in our outdoor area! We are hoping to grow them for some yummy recipes!
The children really enjoyed World Book Day. They came to school dressed as their favourite characters and they brought a teddy and their favourite books. We all read together whilst having hot chocolate, yum!
The children had fun creating volcanos "they have lava coming out of them!" The children are also enjoying the dinosaur museum and investigating fossils, and they are on the look out for an escaped pteradactyl!!!
Animals from the Past and Dinosaurs
Come on my Dinosaur Adventure, yes you can come too!
For the first part of the summer term, we will be looking at animals from the past. This of course includes DINOSAURS! We will be using our writing skills in order to label and describe different dinosaurs as well as looking at how we can order them into different groups, count them and maybe even weigh them! There will be plenty of time to use our imagination using masks and going into the cave....who knows what we may find in there, from writing materials to some fossils. We will be making our own cave art to show what we can see when we look out of the cave as well as continuing to practice our daily phonics.
For the second half of the term we are learning about animals from around the world and animals close to home. We will be making animals, animal habitats in boxes (any boxes would be appreciated, preferably shoe ones!). We will be learning about stories such as Handa's Surprise and making fruit salads including the fruits from the story. We will also be having a teddy bears picnic on the 23rd May so bring along your bears and a marmalade sandwich! We will also be measuring animals and recreating them in movement to music. If you have any books on animals please bring them into school.
Tapestry News
Thank you to everyone who has contributed on the Tapestry online learning journey, it is wonderful seeing all of the fantastic things you do at home. We use the information and photographs to inform our planning, for instance one child in nursery made pizzas and this led to us having a picnic outdoor party! All of the children made pizzas and they didn't last long!
Teddy Bears Picnic
We are going to be having a teddy bears picnic on the 23rd May. The children are going to be preparing lots of yummy food in the morning for us all to eat. For the morning children in nursery it will be at 11.15, parents are welcome to bring a sandwich to join us and in the afternoon it will be at 2.30 and parents and carers are welcome to come and bring a picnic. If it rains then we will have a lovely indoor picnic!
