Summer Homework Show 2017

Enjoying our maths lesson in the sun! 10/5/17

Summer 1

Hello everyone and welcome back!

I hope this summer term will be very fun and exciting with a chance to take learning outdoors!

This term our Topic will be ‘Angry Earth’. We will be learning all about volcanoes, earthquakes and other natural disasters. In this topic we will be looking at how volcanoes are formed? How they erupt? How the earth layers are made up? and how natural disasters can affect peoples lives? We will be testing our own experiments involving friction, forces and magnetism in Science.

In English we will be looking at a children’s favourite “The Abominables” by Eva Ibbotson. We will be looking at myths to develop our own stories and create our own mythical creatures. We will also be looking at ways we can help protect the yeti by saving its habitat.

PE is on Tuesday (indoor) and Friday (outdoor). Please ensure PE kits are kept in school throughout the week and that suitable clothing is available to match the weather conditions.

Homework will now be sent out on a Thursday ready for the following Tuesday. This gives a chance for children to ask questions about their homework before the weekend begins. All completed homework will be rewarded.

Presentation event.

There will be a presentation evening set up for parents to come and look through all the photos and discuss the children’s experiences at Sherwood Forest. I will confirm the day through a letter and on the school website once a date is confirmed. Hope to see you there!

I am always happy to talk if you have any questions or queries. I am always available after school, if this is an inconvenience to you then morning appointments can be set up as well.

Many thanks, Mr Rhodes

Our topic for this term will be “What did The Romans do for us?” We will be finding out all about The Roman Empire and their leader Julius Caesar. We will be investigating The Roman invasions and how they expanded their empire. In science we will be looking at how Romans used different forces such as gravity to design their weapons.
