I hope you are doing well and staying positive during these strange times. With Y6, Y1, YN and YR joining our key worker children I am sending an email regarding how you and your child are doing. My class has constantly been in my thoughts and I would love to get them back before they are year 5. With this seeming more and more unlikely, I wanted to remind you that I have been making phone calls every Wednesday for the past couple of weeks for anyone who wanted one. I understand these are stressful times so I wouldn't want to add more pressure but please let me know if your child would like one. Moreover, please remember I am only an email away and I am more than happy to help in any way possible.
Keep positive and live the dream!
Thanks,
Mr. D
Greek Mythology
Hi Everyone,
This week, key worker children have been learning all about Greece. I thought I would offer out a challenge to my class. It will be all about Greek Mythology and writing a character description about a Greek God. Below, I will have attached documents including a WAGOLL, a task explanation and further information.
I am happy for this to be typed or hand written. If anyone doesn't have paper there will be books available at the office for you to take and write in. Once you have completed the task and you are happy with it, have your grown up bring your work, send me a picture or the actual document and I will give you some feedback.
I look forward to reading your work and can't wait to see you all again soon!

Morning all!
Our word of the week is up and running, apologies about last week. Work has been set and can run alongside Oak National Academy. I've had feedback stating that some of my comments aren't coming through on the work being done. It might be something on my end. Please let me know if there are any issues moving forward.
Moving forward, I would love to hear from you all! If anyone from Laughton feels the same I will be making phonecalls to members of my class on Wednesday. If anyone is interested, please email me and I'll add you on to the list.
Missing you all!

Home Learning
Hi everyone!
Moving forward, I would like my class to use the Oak National Academy and Purple Mash. Below I have attached a link on how to access the lessons on the Oak National Academy. Unfortunately, due to computer issues, I haven't been able to upload a step by step guide on how to access the work on the website for anyone unsure. I would like for you to scroll down and start from week 1 and move through it at your own pace. I have also assigned Purple Mash work to support year 4's learning.
The website is easy to access and all self-explanatory. I will be in school on Monday so I will make sure to upload a video on how to access it. Moreover, keep your eye out for my word of the week!
Many thanks,
Mr. D

Century is an amazing tool which analyses answers and helps identify what your child needs to work on. You have to subscribe and select the free options that corresponds with your child's year. You can have up to 5 children on your subscription. I've found it really useful for Maths and SPAG.
Any questions, please don't hesitate to email me at:

Spring 2
Welcome back! I hope everyone has had a restful and enjoyable half term with friends and family. This half term sees Laughton class making music! Not only will we be learning the song 'Lean on Me' by Bill Withers but we will be learning all about sound. Our topic for this term is called Good Vibrations and will explore how things make noise, how noise travels, the difference between pitch and volume and why sounds get fainter. In Maths we will be completing our Fractions unit and moving onto Decimals. This term, Laughton will indulge in Poetry. We will focus upon The Highwayman.
P.E will be on a Monday and a Wednesday.
I hope we have a great term!

Spring 1
Welcome back!
I hope all have had an amazing time with family and friends over the busy Christmas period. Laughton class will be launched into their new topic with an exciting Viking day on their first day back. The topic will focus on the struggle between the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings and will see the class build on their knowledge of Anglo-Saxons. Laughton will be looking at multiplication facts and will be focusing on narrative work in English.
P.E. will be on a Monday and year 4 will be experiencing Forest school on a Friday afternoon.
I'm extremely excited about this next half term!
Autumn 2
The run up to Christmas will see us don our historian hats and delve into Anglo-Saxon life. We will look at the Romans leaving Britain, Anglo-Saxon settlements, religion and invasions. Maths will see us focus upon discrete and continuous data whilst our current English will turn us into journalists as we write our own newspaper report.
Here's to a fantastic couple of weeks leading up to Christmas!
I hope that everybody has had a fantastic Summer and is ready for a fun-filled first term back! I had an amazing time off and I know I'm ready to work hard, learn and have fun this term.
P.E. will be on a Monday and a Thursday and homework will be set on Friday and due the following Friday. Our unit for Maths will focus on place value and reasoning with 4-digit numbers. English will see us learn all about writing letters. Our topic is called 'I have a dream.' It will see us journey through the historical, geographical and cultural background North America.
I am very excited to start working together and working hard!
