Y5 Scarbrough

Welcome to the Summer term in Year Five. We can't believe how quickly the time is flying, we will be in Year Six before we know it.

Thank you to everyone who attended our Easter service at the end of last term. We hope you enjoyed our performance.

Our butterflies all hatched, and we set them free on the last day of the Spring term.

Tadpoles are quickly becoming frogs and will be returned to Mrs Towner's pond soon.

Our new Egyptian topic has had a fantastic launch day ... please take time to have a look at

our photos.

Swimming lessons will continue until the end of term, with the added bonus of outdoor swimming at Hatfield to look forward to.

Mrs B & Mr K

We are proud to announce the safe arrival of 26 of our 30 butterflies. We are still waiting for Simba, Jeff 2, Sparkle and Shine to join us.

During our Science Week, we became expert investigators. We carefully dissected flowers to identify the various parts that they contained. We can explain why each part is important in order for the plant to reproduce.

We had great fun making our Books in Boxes.

Red Nose Day Fun

We walked around the pond, looking for signs of new life. We found a few, but next time we go we hope to see ducklings and lambs.

Mrs Appleyard Smith came to remind us about how to keep ourselves safe on the roads.

We had great fun on World Book Day.

*** SPRING TERM TWO ***

Welcome back to school ... I hope you all had a lovely holiday. We certainly had the weather to enjoy our time off.

This term, Year 5 will be looking at our new topic .. The Circle of Life.

Spring is the perfect time to cover such a wonderful topic, as we can enjoy watching the changing seasons and new life beginning all around us.

Aspire Club

On Thursday evenings, Y5 children are invited to attend our Aspire Club which will run for the next seven weeks. This will begin after school and end at 4.30pm.

During this time, we will be revising lots of areas of the curriculum so far, as well as learning how to put our skills into practice when answering questions presented in different ways.

We hope to see as many children as possible taking advantage of this opportunity.

Year Five LAUNCHED their new Out of This World topic by enjoying a variety of Space themed activities.

CREATIVE HOMEWORK

Thank you to everyone who attended and supported our creative homework celebration.

WC 19th November 2018

As part of our Playground Leader training, we are on a mission to find out about any playground games played by parents & grandparents. Please reminisce and share details with your children. This way we can ensure that childhood games continue to be passed to future generations.

We also need children to research other playground games and write them down to add to our collection.

In Science, we were investigating the best material to use as a thermal insulator to make a lunch box.

Welcome to the Scarbrough class page.

Good news! Mrs Buckle has now learned how to add to our school website.

Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended our Anti-Bullying assembly. We hope you enjoyed watching it as much as we enjoyed rehearsing and performing. While being great fun, it did of course share a serious message as well.

Photos will be added shortly.
