Summer Term One
Our first summer term has a focus on science and our unit of work will be called Let's Investigate. We will be looking at different materials and how to describe them using scientific terms. In English we will continue with some short burst writing before focusing on the book Julian is a Mermaid and The Three Little Pigs. Miss Wearing and Miss Hopwood will be teaching these units of work using T4W as normal. In Maths we will continue looking at numbers within 50 and in RE we will be having a focus on God and in PE we will be looking at improving our skills.
Spring Term Two
This term is a Geography based unit of work, where we join Paddington on a London Tour as well as a Peru Tour around his home country. We will link up with our Y6 children as they visit the Houses of Parliament so that we can enjoy some of the sights they see virtually. We will be looking at Human and Physical Features on maps and how we can draw them as well as comparing our country and town to another one. Our English T4W work is based on a Fact File rather than a story this term, but will follow the same process. In Geography and DT we will be looking at the countries around the UK and what they eat, so making some of the food and testing to see if we could make it even better! Lots of fun ahead!
Spring One
Welcome back to the New Year! I hope you have had a lovely Christmas holiday and are ready to start back again. This term, we have a focus on History and our unit of work this time is called What's Changed. We will be looking at our own history, as well as the history of toys and where we live. In English we start by looking at the book, Paddington at the Palace, before creating a tour around London. In Maths we will continue working within 20 and extend this by looking at adding and subtracting within 20. This goes quite in depth and will make sure the children can justify their answers. In RE we are looking at Shabbat, a festive day from the Jewish faith.
Only a short term this time, so only five weeks to cram all of this in. I cannot wait to get started!
Autumn Two
This term we will have another science based unit of work called Autumn Days When the Grass is Jewelled. This will be looking at the seasons we experience and how this makes changes to the world. We will also be focusing on the book, Malala's Magic Pencil during English time where we will learn about Malala Yousaif who made a difference to the world when she made a stand for girls getting an education. In Maths we will continue working on Fact Families of addition and subtraction as well as looking at shape.
This term is the build up to Christmas, so during RE, we will be focusing on Salvation. We will also be beginning to work on our Nativity Performance joining forces with the Year Two class. We will become the Choir for their performance which you will be invited to at a later date.
