Y5 Scarbrough

Spring into 2024

Welcome to Spring Term in Y5. I was asked 'What happened to Winter Term?' I'm still not sure about this - I just told the children it likes to join onto the end of Autumn and sneaks into the Spring Term without anyone feeling too upset about having to get up and out on a Winter's morning.

We are launching into space this half term with our new science topic - 'Is there anybody out there?' To compliment this we have a new class novel - George's Secret Key to the Universe - written by none other than the totally awesome Stephen Hawking and his daughter Lucy.

PE will be on Tuesdays (indoor) and Thursdays (outdoor). I am happy for PE kits to come into school and stay until half term. If you choose not to do this, a little reminder - If it starts with a T - Remember PE.

Reading books should be in school every day if possible and definitely on a Friday for our 'Reading Around Space' challenge.

Happy New Year!

Welcome to Year Five

We have already had an exciting start to the school year. Our evacuation to Perlethorpe was a success and we managed to bring all the children back home safely after experiencing billeting, an air raid, a spot of suitcase investigating and a quick test of our enemy aircraft spotting.

Please take a few moments to take a look at our WW2 Knowledge Organiser - this will give you a few clues at to what we will be getting up to this term as we travel back in time.

This page is also your first port of call to see pictures of your children's learning, so watch this space.

This year, Scarbrough class will be taught by Mrs Buckle with the support of Mrs Berner, Mrs Lowden, Mrs Corey and Mrs Wang. If they are really lucky, they may even return to Mr D for a spot of computing.

Swimming will continue to take place on a Tuesday afternoon until the final week of the Autumn term.

Please collect children from outside the classroom at the end of the school day. It may take me a while to link parents with children so please be patient as I get to know you all.

If parents need to contact me, please use   tickhillscarbrough@gmail.com      It would be useful for me to have a full set of parent emails as we now use this system to arrange parents evening meetings. If you have not already received an email from me, it may be that I have the wrong contact details. If this is the case could you please jot down your email address and I will add you to my contact list.
