Year 5 - Scarbrough

Welcome to Year 5 - Scarbrough!

Welcome to Year 5.

Our teacher is called Ms Druce and our Teaching Assistants are Mrs Allen and Mrs Jewison.

This term’s topic is ‘Fish and Ships’ and is centred around a  field trip to Whitby and our exciting Class Reader ‘The Whitby Witches’.  Through this book and visit the pupils will experience many different activities that include all areas of the curriculum from Art to Science.  We will be using the information gathered a s a basis for our own nautical themed story and we are looking forward to working with Year 6 on ‘Pirates  of  The Curry Bean’ to be performed in July.

Our creative homework continues this theme and is listed below.

Make a collage or 3D seascape. Themes could be The Stormy Sea, Underwater World, Swimming With Dolphins or Visit To The Beach
Research a sea creature such as a seahorse.
Find a painting on the internet which relates to the theme of the sea. Print it and explain why you like it.
Research the work of the RNLI
Invent or try a fish dish. Photograph it and describe how it tasted.
Make a costume for the production.

This work will be shown at the Open Afternoon on July 10th so please bring work in that week.
